If there is any water leakage/intrusion, pipe leak, roof leak, condensation problem etc; it should be prevented right in the first place. This helps in the black mold removal effort as moisture is prevented.

Black Mold Symptoms

Ensure that the air conditioners, HVAC systems, and air/ventilation ducts are clean. Black mold formed in these systems are more dangerous as it easily escapes the human eye detection.

Bathrooms are the most prone places for mold formation and quick growth. The tiles, curtains and appliances inside the bathrooms should be properly cleaned/removed in order to avoid any mold formation.

If possible, use good air purifiers to cleanse the air inside your house. Air purifiers can help in reducing the airborne particles of mold spore, thus effectively enhance the black mold removal.

What are the symptoms of allergies and how can you tell that they are suffering from allergy?

Well, when someone has an allergy it basically means they are hypersensitive to certain, usually harmless things, such as dust, foods or plants. Tens of millions of people suffer from allergies throughout the world. Symptoms of allergies can range from a runny nose and itchy eyes, to anaphylactic shock or death. Seen in its simplest form, an allergy is an over-reaction of the body’s immune system. In short, the body responds as though it’s under attack, releasing antibodies and triggering inflammation, even though the stimulus of the attack (the allergen) is normally harmless to the body.

Anaphylactic shock caused by an allergy to a specific compound usually happens after an allergen has been ingested, inhaled or has come into contact with the skin. If it is particularly severe, it can potentially lead to death within minutes, but can also take hours to present. Airways become constricted due to facial and neck swelling, and anxiety, vomiting, itching and fainting can be experienced. This allergy response requires immediate medical attention, which can involve administering epinephrine (adrenaline to keep the airway open) and rescue breathing.

Symptoms of allergies responses are usually viewed in three categories:
First is the acute allergic reaction, which may occur rarely or in response to a single allergen (such as peanuts) and can be quite dangerous.

The second category is chronic cases, in which the sufferer regularly or always show allergy symptoms, sometimes in response to a specific allergen (e.g., dust mites or ragweed), or as the result of an overload of allergens.

In the third category, sub clinical cases, people may suffer transient, seemingly disconnected symptoms that can be difficult to recognize as an allergic response.

The allergic response is closely related to the inflammatory cascade, and that’s one reason it has such serious health effects. Allergic reactions are recognized as one of the most important causes of illness and disease in America. Allergies and sensitivities are at the root of many health problems, including respiratory ailments, skin abnormalities, mood disorders and gastrointestinal symptoms. And the negative health effects resulting from the mechanism of inflammation are equally profound. In short, neither a chronic nor acute allergic response is something you should ignore.

You should learn how to protect the puppy against the canine intestinal worms.

While all this talk about worms infection in puppies may be a little worrisome, don’t let it take away from your enjoyment of your new puppy!

Controlling intestinal worms is easier than you may think. It’s a matter of knowing what you’re up against, and what to do to get the upper hand. Here are a few suggestions:

Pick up and dispose of feces immediately, before worm eggs and larvae have a chance to contaminate the environment.

Don’t let your puppy eat feces.

Keep your puppy on a leash, and learn to identify potentially contaminated areas (parks, kennels, “puppy kindergarten” – anywhere dogs congregate).

Get your puppy off to a good start

As soon as your new puppy joins your home, take him to the veterinarian for a complete check up and vaccination. It is always a good idea to bring a stool sample with you so the veterinarian can test it for evidence of canine parasites and determine your dog’s worm burden.

Start your puppy on a regular puppy wormer program, using an age-appropriate broad-spectrum dog dewormer that is effective against the major types of worms in puppies, according to the following schedule:

at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks old, once a month until the age of 6 months (recommended by some dog health experts)

at least every 6 months after the age of 6 months old

Treat your puppy with the right puppy wormer product

Make sure the puppy wormer you choose meets the following criteria:

Safe for puppies and for worming pregnant dogs of all breeds, with no known interactions with other drugs

Highly effective against the major intestinal worms that infect puppies and adult dogs

Easy to administer at home by anyone

And then, there’s the subject no one wants to think about but can’t afford to ignore… there’s a good chance your new puppy has worms on their body.

ALL puppies have intestinal worms – or at least, canine intestinal worms are so common in puppies that it’s probably safer to assume your puppy has worms, and that you should act accordingly – safely deworm the puppy right at the start.

Worms in puppies – how do puppies get infected with worms?

Young puppies are often born with intestinal worms transmitted to them…

before birth: hormonal changes in pregnancy can activate worm larvae that had been dormant in the mother’s tissue for a long period of time. These larvae subsequently migrate through the placenta to infect the unborn puppies. They can also migrate to the mammary glands and infect nursing puppies;
through their mother’s milk; from the environment, after they are born.

Young puppies are often not taken to the veterinarian before they are 6 to 8 weeks of age, and because there’s such a high rate of worms infection in puppies, they may already be actively contaminating the environment.

FACT: In 1996, a survey was conducted using stool samples from puppies, collected across the U.S. Results suggested that more than 30% of dogs under 6 months of age were shedding Toxocara canis (canine roundworm) eggs. Other studies have shown that virtually all puppies are born infected with Toxocara canis. (As reported by the Companion Animal Parasite Council.)

This is an important concern – especially since some canine intestinal worms can also infect humans easily through what is known as "zoonotic disease".

Tapeworms are thin and flat, like strips of tape.

The bodies of tapeworms are actually made up of a head from which a series of segments will grow.

So how do dogs get tapeworms? They become infected with Taenia pisiformis tapeworms by eating rabbits, which may carry the infective stage of this worm.

Dogs may also become infected with other species of tapeworms by eating fleas that carry the infective stage.

The life cycle of tapeworms in dogs:

Residing inside the small intestine of the dog, tapeworms attach to the intestinal wall by means of suckers in their heads.

A long series of segments trail from the head as tapeworms continue to grow. Taenia pisiformis can reach a length of 80 inches (200 cm).

Tapeworm segments containing eggs continually break off and are passed in the infected dogs’ feces. The segments, which look like grains of rice, may be seen in the feces or clinging to the hair on dogs’ hindquarters.

Small mammals, such as rabbits and squirrels, can serve as intermediary hosts for Taenia pisiformis. Small cysts in the muscle of these animals contain young tapeworms.

When a dog eats an animal carcass, it also ingests these cysts. Once inside the dog, tapeworms grow to adult stage.

Symptoms of tapeworms in dogs and the resultant health risks.

While large tapeworms can take up a lot of space in the intestines, they seldom cause severe problems for dogs.

With severe worm infections, intestinal upsets can vary from diarrhea to constipation.

Since the parasites may interfere with the absorption of nutrients, mild weight loss or slow growth may also occur.

Segments, which cling to infected dogs’ hindquarters, can cause irritation. As a result, dogs may scoot or drag their rear end across the floor.

Health risk to people: zoonosis

It is very rare for canine tapeworms to be transmitted to humans.

Canine Tapeworm Treatment

Treatment and control of canine tapeworm infections involves the use of dog dewormers that effectively remove the tapeworm head, as well as the segments.

Dog Whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) get their name from their whip-like shape.

Dogs become infected by accidentally eating whipworm eggs (while grooming, for example).

The life cycle of canine whipworms in dogs:

After being swallowed, whipworm eggs starts to hatch in the stomach. The larvae invade the wall of the small intestine, where they continue to grow.

Eventually (in approximately 2 ½ months), adult whipworms attach to the lining of the large intestine and cecum (a blind pouch where the small intestine meets the large intestine), where they feed on the dog’s blood.

Adult canine whipworms lay eggs that are expelled in the feces of infected dogs. The eggs must remain in the soil for 2 to 4 weeks to mature before they can infect new hosts.

Whipworm as Health risk to dogs

Like hookworms, dog whipworms attach to the lining of the intestines and suck the dog’s blood, but they are generally less harmful and lead to fewer health problems.

A small number of whipworms may not cause any signs, but a heavier infection can lead to diarrhea, weight loss, blood loss and anemia.

Health risk to people: zoonosis

Canine whipworms rarely infect people.

Whipworm infections in humans are usually caused by a different (non-canine) species of whipworm which otherwise known as Trichuris trichiura.

Canine whipworm treatment
Because most canine worm treatment products are not effective against whipworms, extra care must be taken when choosing a dog dewormer for whipworms.

Fenbendazole is highly recommended and is commonly used to control these parasites.
